Last year Spring Hill, Tennessee held their first Hot Air Balloon Festival, and it was also the first balloon festival I’ve ever attended. I left that event hoping that it would become another Maury County tradition. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see the announcement for the second annual Spooktacular Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Things were looking bleak regarding the weather as the festival date was approaching. When the organizers realized that mother nature was going to ‘rain on the parade,’ they postpone the event for the following day. That was a good move as the rain finally moved out and the winds died down to an acceptable level. Even with no rains and no winds on the next day, the sun still did not show itself. This made for a really drab day. I was hoping for some sun and clouds to create some dynamic scenes, possible a sunset shot with inflated balloons in the foreground. It was quickly evident that was not going to happen. As the saying goes, sometimes you just have to roll with it.

The dull, colorless day did not keep me from creating some photos just as it did not keep the patrons from attending and having a great time. I captured a variety of photos from children and their parents to the performers and of course the balloons. Enjoy the slideshow!

I had a fun time roaming around capturing the event. It appears this year’s festival was another success. Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventures and the city of Spring Hill do a really nice job with the execution of this festival. More importantly the proceeds from this event go to the Tennessee Children’s Home. You can read more about the Tennessee Children’s Home and see photos from the very first Hot Air Balloon Spooktacular on my blog post titled Hot Air Halloween.
