Old Man Winter has definitely come and gone. I believe we actually had a Spring this year. I took these shots back in January and February. It’s been a while since we have had significant snowfall. I believe I actually missed work a few days due to road conditions. What you can’t see in this shot above is the hike from Highway 96 which is 145 feet below. The Parkway was closed due to the snow so the only way to get to the bridge was to walk from Highway 96 along the snow and ice covered road. It was not a great distance, but proved challenging walking up hill on snow and ice. Once I got to the top I made my way toward the bridge and setup my tripod right in the middle of the road. I had to find a patch of snow to keep my footing and the footing of my tripod. I believe I took this shot in the early morning hours. It was cold, but the calm and quietness of Winter’s isolation was relaxing.
The picture above was taken when things started to melt. I wished I had gotten there sooner in the month when there was more ice. Nonetheless, I like the mood captured in this shot. I can feel the cold and loneliness of the lake.
